Every year, we honor the most unique Trappist ale in the world with a special feature and giveaway. Orval is singular among Trappist ales, known both for its assertive hop profile and use of brettanomyces (a strain of yeast that throws off funky, barnyard-y phenolics) at bottling. For such a relatively low-abv ale at 6.8%, it ages phenomenally, which is why we offer multiple vintages on our menu. To that effect: come in on Saturday, March 23rd, buy a…Find out more »
If any beer style truly embodies the Schrodinger’s Cat concept, it is lambic/gueuze. Hyper traditional in nature, the very process by which lambic and gueuze are produced (not to mention the region in which it is produced) is tightly controlled in much the same manner of the Champagne appellation. On the other side of the same coin, it is has survived the rise and plateauing of pastry stouts and hazy IPA hype-cans to maintain pinnacle collector status. Lambic’s popularity…Find out more »

You also know that you can't come in here without one of our servers or bartenders showing you four different pictures of…Find out more »
So you like beer, huh? Fancy yourself a connoisseur? A maven? A historian? Well then, we invite you to, um...put your palate...where your mouth is? No, that doesn't make any sense... Anyway, see if that palate of yours is as educated as you think it is. We'll be presenting eight beers in this tasting: one classic and one modern example of traditional beer styles. The best part? You'll be tasting them blind, and we'll challenge you to not only…Find out more »
Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle has been producing classic Trappist abbey ales for well over a century now. Fiercely dedicated to quality and tradition, they have only ever made three beers: two of them, Tripel and Dubbel, are widely considered to epitomize their respective styles, hence their ability to get away with such a definitive, simplistic name. The third, Extra, is rarely found outside the immediate proximity of the abbey. Until recently, though Westmalle bottles have been a fairly…Find out more »
