We talk a lot about B. United here at Brasserie V. And while the longtime importer likely pays the bills with brands like Reissdorf, Schneider and Schlenkerla, the discussion usually centers around their more esoteric (read "bonkers") offerings: five-year blends of Italian lambic, smoked sour ales aged in Speyside Scotch casks, mead barrels buried in the ground, twenty year-old cellared bottles of British old ale, etc. They are changing the game, relying on customers to figure things out, and…Find out more »

We will be open Mondays starting next week, and thought it would be only fitting to celebrate the life of our long-time bartender and friend Ryan Gronli, who passed away in September. Many of you have known Ryan over his 9+ years behind the bar with us, so we hope you can join us on 10/21 to share memories of his life. We will be raising money for Porchlight, a local cause important to Ryan which seeks to reduce homelessness in…Find out more »
For the first in this new Monday series highlighting some of our favorite breweries from near and far, we're happy and privileged to feature local heavy hitters Giant Jones. Since setting up shop just around the corner from Old Sugar Distillery about a year and half ago, Giant Jones has made good on their "Big Beers for Everyone" motto. Besides the Pale Weizenbock, which has quickly emerged as the brewery's flagship, brewer Jessica Jones (who owns the business with…Find out more »
Our Monday Regional Renown series (featuring breweries we love from in and around Wisconsin) keeps chugging right along. Next week, we're keeping it small in a big way with two beers from our good friends at Revolution Brewing. Their flagship Anti-Hero IPA has been a staple on our tap lines for some weeks now; it's a big, hoppy, yet versatile beer that matches up well with pretty much anything on our menu, but especially our new spicy butternut squash…Find out more »
The term "farmhouse ale" has courted no shortage of confusion and outright controversy over the years, so we only felt it appropriate to exacerbate both of those by featuring a wide swath of farmhouse and farmhouse-adjacent beers for our next tasting. From ultra-classic stylistic examples to playful riffs and outright bonkers takes on the style, we've got you covered. As an added bonus, Max Meeuwes of Beechwood Distribution will be in-house to help lead the tasting and offer up…Find out more »
Door County Brewing started off crafting a series of fairly traditional beers in a cramped brewing space underneath their tiny Northwoods-style taproom. Polka King Porter and Little Sister Wit are clean, pristine examples of their respective styles, but brewer/owner Danny McMahon had loftier goals, more attenuated goals. And so, in a dark, even more cramped corner of that already cramped brewing space, he began to...experiment. Barrels began bubbling; wild yeast was propagated. Somewhere, a dark brett strain awakened. Fast…Find out more »
We're doing a little something special for our Regional Renown brewery feature for Monday, December 9th by collaborating with Half Acre Brewing and Porchlight of Madison. Porchlight strives to reduce homelessness in Dane County by collaborating with the community to provide shelter, affordable housing, and supportive services that eliminate barriers and empower the individuals and families they serve. Half Acre makes ridiculously good beer. Everyone wins. Porchlight is in particular need of cleaning supplies during this part of the…Find out more »
Look, every day is Abt 12 Day here at Brasserie V. St. Bernardus' flagship abbey-style quadrupel has been our house beer for over twelve years now, and we celebrate it 24/7. Now, St. Bernardus is about as traditionally minded a brewery as you'll ever find; their beers are world class and pristine. Every now and again, though, they go a little crazy and unleash something unexpected onto the unsuspecting masses. With that in mind, we'll be debuting the first…Find out more »
It's that time of year again: panicked Amazon orders at 9pm on December 23rd! Also, beers. One of our most anticipated tastings of the year comes back around, and we've got a bevy of classics and new-school gems to slake your yuletide thirst. We're still working on the full list, but you can check out a partial list below; as usual, an array of artisanal cheeses will be provided throughout. Please note: for this tasting, you will pay at…Find out more »
