A Beer, A Bite & A Brewery: Revolution Brewing
July 16 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
For our next edition of A Beer, A Bite & A Brewery, we’re thrilled to be working with our good friends at Revolution Brewing out of Chicago. Already on many a radar for their dialed-in barrel program, the brewery catapulted itself into the national consciousness when they began offering these world-class barrel-aged beers in cans. These rare specialties, along with a rock-solid portfolio of flagship beers, truly mark Revolution as one of the best breweries in the country.
As always, we’ll be offering a four-pack of beers, along with food pairings, branded swag, and a sheet of tasting notes. You’ll also receive a code for a Zoom call where you’ll be able to taste the beer along with Revolution head brewer Jim Cibak, Deep Wood program director Marty Scott and Wisconsin rep Kevin Kuzlik. See below for details on all your goodies!
Anti-Hero IPA – American IPA – 6.7% abv
In the tradition of supremely balanced, malt-kissed IPAs, Revolution’s Anti-Hero has taken on a life of its own, spawning a whole series of one-off variants, mixed packs, and ultra-limited hazy iterations (more on that in a sec). What we have here, however, is the OG: a sticky, resinous yet approachable IPA with a blend of Warrior, Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo hops. It’s the beer that built the brewery, and you’re about to find out why.
DDH Mango Hero – IPA/mango – 7% abv
I hope you like hops; I hope you like mango. The latest in Revolution’s double dry-hopped Hero riffs, this hazy beast is treated with Mosaic, Citra and Sultana hops, plus a huge dose of fresh mango purée.
Eugene Porter – American Porter – 6.8% abv
Named after American union leader and activist Eugene V. Debs, this is a roasty, chocolatey porter with big cocoa and roasted grain notes. Another of the brewery’s flagship beers, and the base for a delicious, limited coffee variant.
Ten Year Beer – Barleywine – 13.6% abv
Revolution is renowned for their barrel-aging program: whether it’s Straight Jacket, Deth’s Tar or one of their endless experimentations, the brewing staff knows how to coax flavors both nuanced and explosive out of their barrels. For their 10-year anniversary, they decided to take it to the limit: scouring their stock of bourbon and rye whiskey barrels, they selected a variety of casks that had been aging different barleywines for 12-24 months, then upped the ante with an addition of sweet and tart cherries. I dare you to drink a Manhattan ever again.
Food items: Hook’s 10 Year Cheddar, Rushing Waters smoked trout spread w/assorted veggies and crackers (Longtable); Cheesecake w/Kome’s Barleywine & Door County cherry reduction (Brasserie V)
