See Josh. See Josh Run. Buy 3 Sheeps and See Josh Run.
April 28, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
This little side-event will be a part of our 3 Sheeps feature on the first Friday of Madison Craft Beer Week, but we figured it merited a description of its own. See, if you know one thing about our Beer Buyer and Certified Cicerone Josh, it’s that he loves beer; if you know two things about Josh, it’s that he loves beer AND loves to run; if you know three things about Josh, it’s that he loves beer, loves to run, and will defend Third Eye Blind to the death, but we’re only concerned about the first two.
Anyway. As part of this charity function, we’ll be tapping a barrel of 3 Sheeps Legacy Pilsner, the cost of which the brewery is graciously donating to the Monroe Street Branch of the Madison Public Library. This is where you come in: any time you buy a glass of this beer during Craft Beer Week, the proceeds will go to that same charity. In addition, you will get a chance to guess what Josh’s finishing time will be for the Lake Monona 20K race, to be held on May 6th, the second Saturday of Craft Beer Week. When the race is done, we’ll see who guessed closest without going over, and that person will get a sweet, sweet prize.
We’ll even make it a little easier on you, and share a few details about this race and Josh’s performance history:
- 20K is just a hair over 12.4 miles; Josh’s personal best for a half-marathon (13.1 miles) is approximately 1:42:30.
- Josh is training right now, averaging about 7:30 miles. When he listens to Linda Ronstadt, that goes to about 7:20. When he listens to Run the Jewels, you won’t catch him. He will be doing neither during the race.
- Josh will start off running with the 1:30:00 pace group in the race, but he can’t promise he won’t cramp up and make a fool of himself.
- Josh gets his power from electrolyte gels and high-fives. You are welcome to liberally dole out the latter during the course of the race.
To keep this from getting too nuts, we’ll mandate a separation of at least ten seconds on your predictions. Feel free to call or stop by with any questions, and we hope to see you on April 28th to drink some great beer, support worthy causes, and make Josh feel really awkward.
