Abt 12 Day

Look, every day is Abt 12 Day here at Brasserie V. St. Bernardus’ flagship abbey-style quadrupel has been our house beer for over twelve years now, and we celebrate it 24/7. Now, St. Bernardus is about as traditionally minded a brewery as you’ll ever find; their beers are world class and pristine. Every now and again, though, they go a little crazy and unleash something unexpected onto the unsuspecting masses.
With that in mind, we’ll be debuting the first kegs of St. Bernardus Oak-Aged Sour Abt 12. Oh yeah…that’s right. St. Bernardus allowed a batch of Abt 12 to sour naturally in oak barrels, then blended in some fresh beer to balance out the flavor profile. Was it intentional? Did they just forget about the barrels? We dunno but we sure are excited to try it.
On top of that, we’ll be cracking open a magnum or two of 2013 Abt 12. If you’ve never had an older vintage of this beer before, you’re in for a treat: imagine all the figgy, plummy decadence of the beer you know and love, balanced out with notes of nutty Madeira and fine sherry wine.
